New camera support

NEW Camera Profiles are available from the Get More tab (on the right-side of the application window in Windows and macOS) or from the Get More menu (Linux). New camera profiles do not install automatically—you choose the profiles that you want to install.

Attention: For Canon CR3 format support, you must install Update 7 before installing the specific camera profiles within the application.

Issues addressed

  • Windows: The database no longer re-scans every time the application relaunches (performance enhancement).
  • macOS: Warning message no longer appears when you install to macOS Catalina or later.
  • Nikon Z6: Image and stability issues have been addressed.
  • Zoom in/Zoom out issues (mouse wheel) have been addressed to provide consistent results when using multi-image view and lock position.
  • Portrait JPEG display issues have been fixed.
  • NEF and NRW Raw file deletion warning message has been added.
  • Sony A6600: Can now detect lens model correctly.

  • Imported RAW thumbnails now show as expected after the corresponding camera profile is installed (no need to reimport).
  • [Pro] Corrected HDR white balance behavior.
  • [Std] HDR no longer produces error message on launch.

New features

  • SmugMug sharing is now integrated into AfterShot.
    How to share to SmugMug: From the Browse panel, click the Output tab, and in the SmugMug area, click Log In. Create or log in to your SmugMug account. In AfterShot, select and drag the thumbnails of the images that you want to share to one of the SmugMug upload presets.

Issues addressed

  • Keywords: Apostrophe in keyword no longer causes issues.
  • Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100: Lens correction applied by default.
  • Nikon firmware (1.02) update: Fixed stability and display issues associated with images captured on Nikon cameras that use 1.02 firmware.
  • Canon sRAW/MRAW: Corrected magenta hue issue.
  • Sony SLT-A99, SLT-A58: Corrected lens mount type error.
  • Fixed image rotation issues that occurred after exporting.
  • Fixed issues related to viewing images after reconnecting an external storage device, such as a flash drive.
  • Ubuntu 16.10 or higher: Fixed reported installation issues.

  • Profiler Mode: Crop tool issues addressed, including inability to see default crop values, imprecise cropping, and broken “Reset All” functionality
  • Reduced app instability caused by errors in new camera profiles (validation checks have been added to minimize issues related to info.afpxml)
  • Many small improvements made to the built-in camera profiles
  • Some JPEGs caused app to crash (related to EXIF data)
  • [Pro] HDR: App not recognizing camera modules (profiles that are installed after initial app release)
  • [Pro] Trying to open a JPEG in the Library if the JPEG was deleted in the File System caused the app to crash
  • [Pro] (Mac) Watermark: Not able to add text watermark or 'recently added' watermark in an undocked panel
  • [Pro] Most crashes related to deleting a Library folder have been resolved
  • Upgrade to Pro: Fatal error occurred when installing purchased AfterShot Pro on a system that already has Pro

Notes:

  • After you install ParticleShop, you can set it up as the External Editor in AfterShot. For instructions, see Editing photos in an external image editor in the AfterShot Help.
  • IMPORTANT: When you configure ParticleShop as your external editor, you must set the File Format option to TIFF (8-bit).
  • AfterShot automatically creates a TIFF copy of the selected file whenever you launch ParticleShop as the external editor (the selected file is never overwritten). When you close ParticleShop, the edited TIFF appears in AfterShot.
  • When you exit ParticleShop, choose the Merge brushstrokes with source content option to save the brushstrokes to the image (AfterShot layers are not compatible with ParticleShop layers).
